Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) nursing interventions for elderly patients undergoing interventional therapy for arteriosclerosis obliterans of lower extremities. Methods Totally 100 elderly patients undergoing interventional therapy for arteriosclerosis obliterans of lower extremities were randomly divided into control group and observation group, with 50 cases in each group. All patients received routine care during the treatment, and those in the observation group received Traditional Chinese Medicine nursing interventions. The effect of intervention on symptoms and vascular function improvement were measured. The patient satisfaction was evaluated by a self-made questionnaire. Results The Symptom Integral Score in both groups decreased after intervention, and Symptom Integral Score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, with a significant difference (P<0.05). T Ankle-brachial Index and artery blood flow velocity were observed. Improvement in both Ankle-brachial Index and artery blood flow velocity were observed in both groups compared to baseline, and better outcomes were observed in the observation group than those in the control group (P<0.05). The patient satisfaction score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Implementation of TCM nursing interventions could effectively relieve the symptoms of numbness and pain, and improve the recovery of vascular function. It is worth promoting in clinical practice.
